Imagine traveling on foot, bicycle or horseback through coastal Georgia, winding through arches of live oak trees on your way to tour one of many historical or recreational sites.

Prelude to the Water Taxi: St. Marys Meeting 6/19/07

A well attended meeting at the St. Marys City Hall brought news of the water taxi to local residents. A group of representatives from Fernandina Beach, Florida traveled with their bikes and rollerblades on a boat provided by Kevin McCarthy of Amelia River Cruises to the meeting in St. Marys. Thanks to Bill Brainard from Fernandina Beach for the photos.

St. Marys-Fernandina Beach Water Taxi

Conceived most recently as a link for the East Coast Greenway, a water taxi connecting Fernandina Beach, Florida with St. Marys, Georgia, is poised to begin service late summer or early fall. Kevin McCarthy of Amelia River Cruises has begun arrangements to begin the service connecting the cities, as covered in the Jacksonville Times-Union. Initial service will probably be limited to Thursday through Saturday, with schedules to be adjusted based on demand.
