Imagine traveling on foot, bicycle or horseback through coastal Georgia, winding through arches of live oak trees on your way to tour one of many historical or recreational sites.

Woodbine Riverwalk dedicated to ECG

During Woodbine’s Arbor Day celebration, a dedication ceremony was held for the Woodbine Riverwalk as the first segment of the East Coast Greenway in Georgia. As mentioned in Jacksonville’s Florida Times-Union, the 1.9 mile trail includes a segment on the Satilla River and continues southward along an old railbed. Plans include extension for an additional mile along the railbed, and ultimately connection with a trail leading into St. Marys.

Terry Landreth Appointed to ECG Trail Council

Congratulations to Terry Landreth of St. Marys who has been named to the East Coast Greenway Trail Council! Terry has been a vocal supporter of the Coastal Georgia Greenway in Camden County, and has been instrumental in the process of seeking the East-West Rail Corridor in Camden County for the greenway.

From Terry’s bio:

Since the opening of Camden Bicycle Center in 1999, Terry has taken a forward role in both the community and for bicycle advocacy. Terry recognized early on that cycling can be a lifelong adventure. Promoting a greater awareness of a healthy lifestyle is an integral part of Camden Bicycle Center’s mission. Terry carries this message to others by volunteering many hours in our local school system and with various civic groups, providing encouragement and expertise to all cyclists.

Terry LandrethTerry has partnered his efforts with the Regional Development Center (RDC) in devising a comprehensive Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan for the Georgia Department of Transportation’s future road improvements in Camden County. In addition, Terry has served with the RDC on a Coastal Georgia feasibility study for the regional multi-use trail system (Rails-to-Trails.) and the national Safe Routes to Schools program.

Terry envisions Camden County and Coastal Georgia having an interconnected system of greenways, parks, and trails making us a safe, unique, vibrant and progressive community. His excitement about the future of Camden County and Coastal Georgia includes promoting our region as a premier destination for all outdoor enthusiasts.
